How to Change or Reset Netflix Password on Any Device

Guarding Your Streams: How to Change or Reset Your Netflix Password on Any Device

Keeping your Netflix password secure is crucial for maintaining control over your account and preventing unauthorized access. Whether you want to change your password for security reasons or simply forgot the current one, this guide will walk you through the process on various devices.

Changing Your Netflix Password:

Using a Web Browser:

  1. Head to Netflix.com and sign in using your current password.
  2. Hover over your profile icon in the top right corner and click on Account.
  3. Under the Membership & Billing section, look for Change password.
  4. You’ll be prompted to enter your current password followed by your desired new password twice (for confirmation).
  5. There’s an optional checkbox labeled Sign out of all devices. Ticking this box will force all devices currently signed in with your Netflix account to log out. This is a good security measure if you suspect unauthorized access.
  6. Click Save to confirm the password change.

Using the Mobile App (Android or iOS):

  1. Open the Netflix app on your phone or tablet.
  2. Tap on your profile icon located on the top right or bottom right corner (depending on your device and app version).
  3. Select Account.
  4. Under Membership & Billing, tap on Change password.
  5. Enter your current password, followed by your desired new password twice.
  6. Just like on the web browser, you’ll see the option to Sign out of all devices. Consider ticking this box if you suspect unauthorized access.
  7. Tap Save to update your password.

Resetting Your Forgotten Password:

Using a Web Browser:

  1. Visit https://www.netflix.com/nl-en/LoginHelp
  2. Enter the email address associated with your Netflix account.
  3. Click on Email Me.
  4. Check your inbox for an email from Netflix with a password reset link.
  5. Click on the link in the email, which will take you to a password reset page on the Netflix website.
  6. Enter your desired new password twice and click Reset Password.
  7. You’ll then be able to sign in to Netflix using your new password.

Using the Mobile App (Android or iOS):

Unfortunately, the Netflix mobile app doesn’t offer a direct way to reset your password. You’ll need to use a web browser on your phone, tablet, or computer to follow the steps mentioned above (using a web browser).

Important Security Tips:

  • Choose a strong password that is unique to your Netflix account and avoid using easily guessable information like birthdays or pet names.
  • Consider using a password manager to generate and store strong passwords for all your online accounts.
  • Enable two-factor authentication (2FA) on your Netflix account if available. This adds an extra layer of security by requiring a code from your phone in addition to your password when logging in.
  • Regularly review the devices signed in to your Netflix account and remove any unrecognized ones. You can manage your devices from the Account settings on the Netflix website.

By following these steps and security tips, you can easily change or reset your Netflix password and keep your account safe. Remember, a strong and unique password is your first line of defense against unauthorized access.
